Free fresh vegetables at Social Food Garden Leeuwarden East

Free fresh fruit and vegetables from the neighbourhood

Do you live in Leeuwarden East and could use some extra support?
At the Social Food Garden, you can pick up fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits for free during the harvest season.

The garden is intended not only for food, but also as a nice meeting place in the neighbourhood. You are welcome for a chat, a cup of coffee or to spend some time outside. Children are welcome to join in.

Helping in the garden is allowed but not required.

For whom.
For residents of Leeuwarden East who are struggling to make ends meet or need extra healthy food and meeting.

We work without a complicated application process and on the basis of trust.

How does it work?

  • Apply via the form below or at the garden
  • During harvest season, you can harvest in the garden every Tuesday
  • Through our harvest mailing, we let you know which vegetables, herbs and fruits are ready to harvest
  • In the mailing, we also share practical harvesting instructions and information about the garden
  • Participation is free of charge
