IVN Leeuwarden e.o.

IVN Leeuwarden e.o. valt onder de landelijke organisatie IVN natuureducatie. De afdeling is een enthousiaste vereniging met ongeveer 300 leden waarvan zo'n veertig actief zijn als vrijwilliger. De afdeling draait bijna volledig op vrijwilligers en wordt daarbij ondersteund door de betaalde tak van het IVN.  

Since its re-establishment in 1996, IVN Leeuwarden e.o. has been organising all kinds of fascinating activities related to nature and sustainability in the Leeuwarden area, in Friesland and sometimes beyond.

The wind through your hair, sun on your face and clay soil on your shoes. That is IVN Leeuwarden e.o.

• The bird working group organises a comprehensive bird recognition course every year and themed bird excursions in spring and late summer. 
• On every first Saturday of the month between October and June, the monthly birding/nature excursion group heads out.
• The youth working group has fun nature activities for primary school children including in dbieb and at the rest point outdoor centre Leeuwarder forest.
• The activities working group puts various lectures in collaboration with dbieb, excursions, workshops and more on the agenda. 
• The promo team shows up at several events and markets in the municipality of Leeuwarden. There, they offer a nature activity in the stall and introduce people to the IVN and the department in an approachable way.
