The Blokhuispoort Foundation promotes the history of the Leeuwarden Blokhuis, the House of Imprisonment and Punishment, the Special Prison, the Remand Centre on Keizersgracht and Blokhuisplein in Leeuwarden. Over 500 years of history surrounding a special place in Leeuwarden’s city centre, from the Blokhuis to the Blokhuispoort. At the Blokhuispoort Museum, we bring these stories to life at this beautiful location through experienced guides, each with their own story to tell.
