What does the organisation offer the volunteer?

Use of a service car or if you drive your own car an allowance of €0.35 per km.

In addition, you are invited to many activities at Oorizon, a Christmas package at Christmas, an appreciation evening is organised once a year and you can participate in gesture learning.

Because it involves deaf and hard-of-hearing clients, this will be addressed in advance and there will be a meeting once or twice a year with the group of volunteers involved in Oorizon.

What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?

The clients being transported are elderly people who are deaf or hard of hearing; some of them use a walking aid.

It is important to take the client into account when communicating by speaking to them calmly, looking them in the eye, and showing understanding if they do not understand, so that a solution can be sought together; the day centre staff can provide support in this regard.

In addition, staff are asked to be helpful and to do so at the clients’ own pace.
