We are looking for genuine horse and pony enthusiasts to look after our retired riding school horses

For our cosy stable, which is currently home to seven retired riding school horses, we are looking for a horse lover who would like to look after our retired riding school horses independently for at least one, and preferably two, half-days a week.

You’ll carry out all the tasks involved in the day-to-day care of horses and stable work: 

• feed, 
• putting horses out and in,
• mucking out the stables, the pasture and the paddock,
• administer medication if necessary,
• sweeping and cleaning,
• ensure that the stable and the yard are kept tidy.

But above all, you’ll have the chance to build a bond with a herd of horses and discover what the horses can mean to you.

You’ll receive thorough induction training from an experienced stable hand. After the induction period, provided both parties are happy with the arrangement, you’ll start working independently, but… you won’t be on your own: you’ll be part of an enthusiastic team of grooms and groomswomen who are deeply committed to the animals.

Our stables are of a higher standard than average, have a cosy atmosphere and are very horse- and pony-friendly.

The opportunity to work independently with horses.

You will receive a volunteer allowance in accordance with the ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation) scheme:

€20 per half-day;
€40 per full day;
up to €220 per month;
up to €2,200 per year.

This volunteer allowance is tax-free and does not need to be declared as income to the tax authorities.

We are looking for someone who:

• has experience in looking after horses and ponies,
• has a sense of responsibility,
• is able to/willing to work independently,
• wants to roll up their sleeves,
• loves horses and ponies very much.

You are 21 years of age or older.

In the summer, our horses graze in the meadow, and in the winter we let them spend as much time as possible outside in the paddock. As our animals are never left outside unsupervised, we look for someone who has the time and attention to be there for half a day.

As our venue is not easily accessible by public transport, you will need your own transport. In spring and summer, the venue is easily accessible by bike. In autumn and winter, the access road is poorly lit after dark. You will therefore need a car or scooter.
