Handy handymen wanted, with the heart in the right place!

The Present Leeuwarden Foundation helps the people of Leeuwarden. The Frisian capital is home to many people who are keen to help others. But where exactly do all those people who need help live? The Present Leeuwarden Foundation knows, thanks to its links with the city’s community organisations. Present Leeuwarden acts as a bridge between people who are keen to help and those who need a bit of support for whatever reason. In doing so, we aim to make the city even more liveable than it already is. After all, what could be better than helping one another? Stronger together! Present Leeuwarden helps to make this happen. The deployment of flex workers – our regular volunteers – is one of the ways in which the Present Foundation helps. Flex workers are deployed to carry out odd jobs in people’s homes. Requests for help are received by the Present Foundation via a social organisation. The person requesting help must meet a number of criteria, which are: an insufficient social network, poor health (mental and/or physical) and insufficient resources (to hire someone, if necessary). As a flex worker, you can be assigned to various practical tasks. These might include painting, wallpapering, laying laminate flooring, gardening, etc. You can specify what sort of jobs you’d like to do. If you don’t have much experience in a particular area, that’s no problem, as you’ll always be working alongside other flex workers.
