Are you patient and have an affinity for autism? Then you might be suitable as a buddy!
Description
A 31-year-old resident of one of our locations in Stiens, is looking for a buddy who wants to do fun activities together once or twice a month. At first, this will mainly involve small, quiet activities to get to know each other. By playing a game or building with lego (the complicated variety). Furthermore, sir likes to take walks and you make him happy with outings to, for instance, the museum or the cinema. Later, this can possibly be extended to swimming/snorkelling/diving, or other activities he likes.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
- Good support and guidance (fixed contact person on site)
- Travel allowance (if applicable) and outings are paid for
- A challenging but highly rewarding experience
- While building a bond of trust, you get a lot of positivity and satisfaction in return.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
Mister is autistic and does not talk much. He finds it difficult to make contact, but once he trusts you, he can have a lot of fun and loves a joke. It is important that you give Mr. time to shift gears (go with his pace) and don't expect him to have whole conversations. He is a quiet, intelligent and subdued man who you should definitely not underestimate.
