Looking for a fishing buddy
Oorizon is looking for a fishing buddy for a client at the day centre who would like to go fishing together once a week at the Potmarge.
A fishing licence is provided for the client; if you wish to join in the fishing yourself, you will need your own fishing licence. The cost of this will be reimbursed.
If you actually enjoy going fishing with someone and offering support when needed, then this is the thing for you.
The client is deaf, but by speaking calmly and looking the client straight in the eye, they are able to follow what is being said. In addition, the day centre staff are always on hand to provide support whenever needed.
Are you the one we are looking for or would you like more information?
Then send an email to: antje.modderman@kwadrant.nl
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
You’ll be invited to take part in a wide range of activities at Oorizon; at Christmas, you’ll receive a Christmas hamper; a thank-you evening is organised once a year; and you can take part in sign language lessons if you’d like.
As this involves a deaf client, this matter will be given careful consideration in advance, and there will be a meeting once or twice a year with the small group of volunteers involved with Oorizon.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
It is important to be considerate of the client when communicating by speaking to them calmly, looking them in the eye and showing understanding if they do not understand. In this way, a solution can be sought together, with the support of the day centre staff.
In addition, staff are asked to provide support at the client’s own pace.
