Traffic controllers

We are looking for traffic marshals and volunteers who would like to help out at the Leeuwarden Four-Day Evening Walk in 2027. This event will take place from 31 May to 3 June 2027.

If you’d like to help ensure our participants cross the road safely or to punch their start cards at the start or at the checkpoint(s), please get in touch with our charity.

The start is at the Kooistadion on Stadionplein, and you are expected to arrive there between 17:00 and 17:30 to collect any equipment from the kit manager or a walkie-talkie from the command post.

At 18:00, the runners running the 10 km will start and at 18:30, the runners running the 5 km will start.

Once you have registered, you will receive a clear explanation of what is expected of a traffic warden or volunteer.

A free e-learning for event traffic controllers that you can do at home behind your own computer or laptop; you will receive the login details from Mr Mellema; the duration of the e-learning cannot be specified; on the evenings, when you are a traffic controller, you will wear a recognised vests handed out by the equipment manager; consumption tokens to have a drink afterwards in the Restaurant Joining the start location.

Willing to take an e-learning event traffic controller; available at least 1 evening from about 17:00. Possible start time by arrangement.

The evening four-day walk lasts until about 21:00 on the first three evenings. On the last evening, the finishing time is later due to the final parade and the distribution of medals. 

Once the closing parade has finished and everything has been cleared away, there will be an opportunity to get together at Restaurant Aanschuiven to reflect on the past few days whilst enjoying a drink and a bite to eat.
