Volunteer for the vegetable garden and grounds maintenance

Help us grow at Hiddema State. A place where people, animals and nature come together. At Hiddema State, we believe in the power of nature, connection and working together. On our historic mound, we are creating a place where everyone is welcome and where we treat the land on which we live with care. Hiddema State is a home where people can find a sense of belonging, grow and connect.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers for our vegetable garden who enjoy working outdoors and want to help create a healthy, sustainable and vibrant space.

What will you do?
The work in the vegetable garden changes with the seasons. Among other things, you’ll be helping with:

• Sowing and planting
• Harvesting vegetables, herbs and flowers
• Weeding and garden maintenance
• Soil care
• Promoting biodiversity
• Brainstorming new ideas for the vegetable garden

When?
Vegetable garden season: April to October

Regular volunteer
Preferably at least 1 day or 2 half-days a week

On-call volunteer
Can be deployed flexibly whenever extra help is needed

Times
Between 8.30 am and 3.00 pm

• No experience is required, but an understanding of vegetable gardening would be an advantage. Enthusiasm, curiosity and a love of working outdoors are more important.
