Bartender day care for homeless people
Description
At day care centre the Gardens in Leeuwarden, dozens of people come in daily for a chat, coffee or something to eat. The visitors are usually addicted to alcohol and/or (soft)drugs and often have psychiatric problems. They are special people with special stories. As a volunteer, you perform bar duties and offer a listening ear. You are confident and have affinity with the target group. You also support the mission and vision of the Salvation Army.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
You practically want to be there for others. Do you enjoy helping out for a day (or part of a day) every now and then on weekends? Then sign up quickly!
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
It is good to know that you will be working with a target group with a background of addiction, and/or mental health problems. It is important that you can deal with this target group and are not in recovery yourself.
