Basic First Aider

A faint, a concussion, a haemorrhage or alcohol poisoning. You come across all kinds of things during an event. Do you spring into action when someone needs immediate help? Do you keep a cool head? Then sign up as a volunteer!

Auxiliary
As an emergency worker, you are trained for unexpected situations. Is someone injured? You keep a cool head and take responsibility. During crisis situations and during events such as the 4 Mile of Groningen, the Bartje 200, DelfSail and King's Day, you and your team are on standby. You will carry out these emergency activities together with your colleagues from the Emergency Assistance Team. Depending on where you live, you will be based in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen or Drenthe.

Engaging and meaningful volunteering. An offer of relevant education and training to expand your first aid knowledge. You work on a voluntary basis. We reimburse expenses incurred and ensure you are insured while performing your work.

The Red Cross seeks volunteers with talent and excellent skills for a position and is not guided by cultural background, physical limitations, gender identity, religious beliefs, orientation or age.

Our ideal event relief worker

• Is 18 years of age or older
• Has a valid, comprehensive Red Cross first aid certificate or is willing to obtain one
• Commits regularly to event assistance
• Makes time to attend education and training courses to keep skills up to standard
• Commits to providing assistance during crisis situations
• Takes immediate action when something happens and is flexible
• Is stress-resistant and has stamina
• Can be a good listener, compassionate and responsive to victims' needs
• Endorses the fundamental principles and code of conduct of the Red Cross
