What is the meeting group in Sneek?
COC Friesland has launched a new meeting place for LGBTQA+ young people aged 12 to 26. This group is a combination of Jong&Out (12-18 years old) and Expreszo (18-26 years old). The first meetings have now taken place and the group is gradually growing into a permanent place where young people can meet, have fun and be themselves.
What will you do?
As a supervisor, you and fellow volunteers are the first point of contact for the group. You:
- Organises and supervises activities together with other volunteers;
- Ensures a safe and inclusive atmosphere during the meetings;
- Answers questions from young people, or refers where necessary;
- works with the coordinator who provides support and guidance.
Who are you?
- You have an affinity with LGBTQA+ young people and/or experience working with young people.
- You are creative and enjoy devising and implementing activities.
- You are approachable and use clear and simple language.
- You can structure a group and guard the balance between closeness and professional distance.
- You have time and energy to commit an average of 8 hours per month.
- Above all, you are keen to contribute to a warm and safe place for LGBTQA+ young people in Sneek and the surrounding area.

As a volunteer at COC Friesland, you become part of a warm and involved community. You receive a membership with COC Friesland and are welcome to at least two fun volunteer outings per year. In addition, we will reimburse your travel expenses and this voluntary work will earn you a nice mention on your CV.

What does COC Friesland ask of you as a volunteer?
As a facilitator, you and other volunteers organise activities for the group, such as film evenings, theme meetings or visiting an event together, for example Leeuwarder Pride. Meetings take place on every second Sunday of the month.
During the activities, you provide a safe and inclusive environment, where everyone can be themselves. You also answer questions from young people or young adults. When it comes to substantive or specialist questions that fall outside your role, you know how to refer them to the right person within the association.
