Supervisor meeting group Expreszo (18 to 26 years)
Description
COC Friesland organises meetings every last Friday evening of the month for Expreszo, the meeting group for LGBTQA+ young adults aged 18 to 26. During these evenings, we undertake all kinds of activities together: from game nights to creative workshops and from conversations to cultural trips. To make this possible, we are looking for an enthusiastic facilitator who enjoys thinking with the group, organising activities and creating a safe, sociable atmosphere.
What will you do?
- You will supervise the monthly Expreszo meetings in Leeuwarden.
- You will think about the programme and organise appropriate activities with the group.
- You will ensure that the meetings are a safe and inclusive place for everyone.
- You will work with fellow supervisors and the coordinator of COC Friesland.
What does COC Friesland offer you?
- A thorough induction process that introduces you to the organisation, our culture and colleagues.
- Support and guidance from experienced volunteers.
- A network within the Frisian LGBTQA+ community.
- Travel allowance and other expenses to be agreed upon.
What do we ask of you?
- You can act flexibly and respond ad hoc when needed.
- You are communicative, eager to learn and know how to enthuse young people.
- You can work well with other volunteers and professionals.
- You are available for an average of 5 hours a month, especially on the last Friday evening of the month.

What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
What does COC Friesland offer you as an Expreszo supervisor?
As a facilitator at Expreszo, you will join an enthusiastic and diverse group of volunteers who work together to support young adult LGBTQA+ individuals. You will receive good guidance and support from experienced colleagues. This will give you the chance to strengthen your communication and organisational skills and stand in front of a group with more confidence. Although it is a voluntary position, you will receive an allowance for travel and expenses (in consultation with your coordinator). Moreover, Expreszo offers you the opportunity to be part of the Frisian LGBTQA+ community, meet new people and participate in cosy get-togethers and group meetings.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
What does COC Friesland ask of you as a supervisor at Expreszo?
We are looking for someone who is themselves part of the LGBTQA+ community or can relate well to it. It is important that you are happy with your own gender and/or sexual orientation and can talk openly about it. You enjoy engaging with young adults and undertaking activities together; a background in education, pedagogy or youth work may help. You will also be of great value if you bring something extra from your professional experience in, for example, healthcare or business.
In addition, you have good communication skills and know how to enthuse young people. As the meetings take place in Leeuwarden, you preferably have a driving licence and a car, or you are willing to travel by public transport. You are available at least one evening a month (the last Friday of the month) and join the joint counsellor meetings that take place a few times a year.
