What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Use of the organisation’s car is strictly for the journey; if you use your own car, you will receive an allowance of €0.35 per km.
In addition, you will be invited to take part in activities at Oorizon; you can decide for yourself whether you wish to participate. During the festive season, you will receive a Christmas hamper from the organisation, and you will also be invited to a thank-you evening.
As this concerns deaf and hard-of-hearing clients, this will be given special attention in advance, and there will be a meeting once or twice a year with the small group of volunteers involved with Oorizon.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
The passengers being transported are elderly people who are deaf or hard of hearing; some of them use a rollator or walking stick.
It is important to be considerate of the client when communicating, by speaking to them in a calm manner.
It is important, however, that you make eye contact with clients and speak clearly; this is very important for the client.
In addition, staff are asked to be helpful and to show respect towards the client.
