Becoming a volunteer at the Northern Film Festival

Always wanted to be active behind the scenes of a film festival? Go to the movies for free? Sign up as a volunteer for the Northern Film Festival, it's all possible!

The 45th edition of the Northern Film Festival will take place in Leeuwarden from 5 to 9 November 2025. Nice that you are interested!

Registration is open, but - before filling in the form - please read the following carefully.

You will be part of an incredibly sociable and fun group of volunteers;

You get your own crew shirt;

Depending on your shift times, you will be offered lunch or dinner;

Outside your shift, you’re entitled to unlimited free admission to the films screened during the festival – provided you’ve worked three or more shifts of at least five hours each (subject to availability!)

Minimum availability: we ask that you are available for at least 3 half-days;

Shift times: we schedule you for a maximum of 5.5 hours per shift (except for set-up and dismantling, which take place from 09.00 to 17.00);

Suitability: for positions such as site manager, room coordinator and Team Access, for example, we also look at the suitability of the volunteer;

We will take your preferences into account as far as possible, but we cannot guarantee this. Once you have registered, you will receive a reply within 3 to 4 working days. Please note: registration closes on 7 October!
