Host/hostess

The village of Bears was once home to a prominent family, the Unias. After their State was demolished, the grounds lay deserted for centuries. Only the Poarte still bears witness to this location's rich past. In 1990, an initiative was born to revive the state. Where the stone walls once stood, a steel replica, designed by artist Bep Mulder, now stands as a mirage of the past. The tower offers stunning views of the landscape. Anyone entering the grounds of the castle through the original gateway will feel like a visitor in another time.

Maria Church in Bears serves as a reception and documentation centre for visitors to Uniastate. We regularly organise events, exhibitions and performances. We are looking for volunteers who want to keep this beautiful location alive. In the church, you will welcome visitors as a hostess or host. The church, the entrance gate and the steel replica of Uniastate are open from April to September from Tuesday to Sunday from 13:00 - 17:00. Are you available as a host or hostess for part of a day during the week or on weekends? If so, we would love to get in touch with you!
