Here is some more information about Nivon

Going outside together is something you do at Nivon Natuurvrienden: a membership organisation (26,000 members in September 2022) run by volunteers with a green and social heart. At Nivon you will find affordable overnight places in the middle of Dutch nature. Locally, the departments organise activities and meetings. The national working groups organise trips, manage hiking trails and much more.

Nivon has existed since 1924, first under the name IvAO and later as the Netherlands Institute for People's Development and Friends of Nature (abbreviated to Nivon). It was set up at the time for the development and association of workers and meeting in nature. Still today, Nivon is a non-profit membership organisation with green and social values. Not only in the Netherlands, but all over the world you can find nature friends' organisations with members and similar facilities.

Nivon has accommodations in eighteen places in the Netherlands where you can find nature friends' houses, camping sites and cottages. In addition, Nivon working groups organise trips such as summer camps, hiking trips, canoe trips, winter sports and treks. Nivon volunteers manage both Long-Distance Walking Trails (LAW) and Regional Trails throughout the country. Cycling enthusiasts use the Nature Friends Cycling Guide and adventurers set off on the Nivon Trekking Tours. All this is run entirely by volunteers with a small national office for support tasks.
