Social worker for status holders
Description
Imagine finding yourself in a foreign country where you don't speak the language and don't know your way around. Where the rules are different and public transport or healthcare don't work the way you're used to. How nice it would be if someone could show you the ropes in this new world, so that you could feel at home in your new surroundings.
From 1 January 2026, Amaryllis will be responsible for the social guidance of status holders coming to live in the municipality of Leeuwarden. We support them in housing (furnishing and regulatory matters) and becoming familiar with their village or neighbourhood. Amaryllis is looking for volunteers to accompany status holders during their first period in Leeuwarden, where so much is new to them.
Your tasks may vary from practical administrative matters to spending extended periods of time with a status holder and his or her family as a buddy. We also have work for people who enjoy leading groups or providing information. In short, there is plenty to do!
Are you interested? Then please contact us. Together, we will look at what best suits your knowledge, interests and capabilities.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
- You will be part of an engaged and motivated volunteer team.
- We provide support by a professional and an induction programme.
- The opportunity to take additional (online) courses and training.
- And above all, fascinating and meaningful volunteering!
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
- We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who want to engage with status holders for at least 4 hours a week.
- For proper supervision, we want to offer continuity to the status holders and ask for supervisors willing to commit to our organisation for at least a year.
- You derive pleasure from assisting status holders and do not experience any barrier if language is still a challenge at times.
- You are decisive, solution-oriented and interested in other cultures.
