MDT Inclusive Sailing opens the doors to a unique experience for you! As a companion on an active water sports holiday for people with disabilities, you get the chance to experience new adventures and develop yourself in various skills and competences. Moreover, you will contribute to making unforgettable holidays possible for others.

Imagine sailing on the water, the wind through your hair and all this while putting a smile on the faces of people with disabilities. MDT Inclusive Sailing brings young people together to make a positive impact on the lives of others. And make friends for life!

This unique opportunity offers not only an adventurous escape from the everyday, but also the chance to develop important skills. Communication, teamwork, leadership and empathy are just some of the competences you will strengthen.

Target
Young people from 17 to 30 years old who are motivated to contribute to a wonderful water sports holiday for people with disabilities.


What does the organisation offer the volunteer?

Some facts at a glance:

  • Joining MDT is completely free of charge
  • Board and lodging is also free
  • Travel and expense allowance
  • MDT you do in your spare time or gap year.
  • You easily combine it with your work or studies, as an MDT lasts at least 1 week (preferably 2 weeks) in a period of up to 6 months.
  • You will receive training, mentoring and coaching.
  • You make/gain new friends.
  • While developing yourself, you are also doing something for someone else.
  • Upon completion, you will receive a certificate: that will look super good on your CV!


What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?

1-week or 2-week commitment to work with skipper, mate and other volunteers to give participants with disabilities ( and yourself!) an unforgettable watersports week. 

Help where needed with ADL care and other activities, such as organising the evening programme, cooking food, and helping on board.

You will stay in our accommodation in Elahuizen for 1 week and be on the water during the day. Two other beautiful locations are also possible: an island on the Loosdrechtse Plassen and a clipper on the IJselmeer/Wadden.

Sailing experience is only required for guiding on the island at Loosdrecht.
