Granny's Soup Volunteer

Description
Granny's Soup Leeuwarden organises weekly activities to combat loneliness among the elderly. We organise Cooking Days, Soup at Home Days and several times a year we organise events in Leeuwarden. We are looking for young people/students who want to help us with this!
Cooking days:
Elderly people and volunteers socialise and have a chat together. A game is often played while the soup is cooking. The cooking day ends with a cheerful Grandma's Soup meal, where the elderly and young people can enjoy their own cooking. The cooking days bring much conviviality from which the elderly derive great pleasure. In addition, they find the contact with young people valuable, fun and both the cooking days and the soups promote the health of the elderly. It gives them a sense of purpose and, above all, a lot of fun! The cooking days are organised in various community centres and day care centres.
Soup-to-door days:
The volunteers visit a number of elderly people's homes to pass a soup. The fresh soup is good for health, but the most important thing for the elderly is the structural contact moment. The cosy chat is what the elderly enjoy most and is most valuable to them. In this respect, it is nice if the volunteer and the elderly stay in touch, and the same volunteers and elderly are linked structurally as much as possible.
Of course, all activities happen under the guidance of the Granny Soup Board Leeuwarden. We always try to do this the best we can, to make it always something fun for both the elderly and yourself.
You can help!
Besides its own activities, Oma's Soep seeks to inspire millions of Dutch people to bring a smile to a parent. Would you also like to contribute? Then sign up as a volunteer!
The best recipe against loneliness!
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Helping out at a cookery or soup day is a unique opportunity to challenge loneliness among the elderly and to further develop your social skills.
It is also possible to do (social) internship hours with us. Contact us for this via our phone number or e-mail address.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
Grandma's Soup Cooking Days are always about conviviality and fun. Making delicious soups together with young and old is a unique combination. During the Cooking Days, vegetables are used that would otherwise be thrown away. The Cooking Days are organised at different locations and participation takes about 2-3 hours. An afternoon full of board games, strong stories, more jokes and, of course, delicious soup!
With the Soup at Home days, we reach the elderly who need company the most. Through local GPs, physios, the supermarket around your corner and many other supporters, we reach a large group of vulnerable elderly people. Every week, we deliver visits and packages filled with our delicious soup, a motivational card and a surprise to elderly people in your neighbourhood. Grab a moment to enjoy a cup of coffee with your neighbour, take a walk or do something together. The Soup at Home day is organised weekly from a fixed location and participation takes about 2-3 hours. Your smile, pleasant chat or brief moment of contact can make a world of difference for our elderly people.
