Rickshaw driver
Description
A little wind through the hair
Everyone has a right to wind through their hair. Two less mobile fellow townspeople are taken for a bike ride. A quick look around the old neighbourhood, a lap around the Cambuur stadium, a stop at the Condens, a stretch along the Dokkumer Ee. A piece of cycling with the wind through your hair. The contact with people, out and about with a volunteer. A warm-hearted but simple gesture that almost anyone can do. At Cycling All Years, life does not stop at a certain disability or age, but we embrace what each person has to offer through something as simple as cycling. A rickshaw driver or "rickshaw pilot" as we call it internationally, is a volunteer who is available for one half-day a week to go out with the rickshaw and two passengers. More half-days a week is of course always possible. To reassure you: the rickshaw is equipped with electric pedal assistance!
Training
As a rickshaw pilot, you will receive extensive training from experienced pilots. We guide you well until you go out on your own with the people. We have a booking system where we keep track of who cycles where, we have 4 rickshaws and two wheelchair bikes at our disposal. Keep the nice weather coming.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Before the pilot starts, he or she will get training on how to use the bike and we will practice first until you master it. We also focus on interacting with the target group of 'Cycling All Years'. Cycling is not the goal, experiencing something together and going out is paramount.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
You love cycling and people. You have an affinity with disabled or elderly people. You can handle the responsibility of going out by rickshaw with 1 or 2 less mobile fellow citizens.
