Skippers for sailing or motor boat for sailing with people with disabilities

The wind in your hair, the sun on your face and the lapping water against the bow: at SailWise, everyone can enjoy water sports. Unlimited! People with physical or mental disabilities have been able to enjoy water sports at SailWise since 1974.

In the Frisian town of Elahuizen, SailWise has its own water sports centre - It Sailhûs - where people with disabilities can sail and cruise on the Frisian lakes. The help of volunteers is indispensable! Do you have sailing and/or motorboat experience and do you enjoy giving others a fantastic time on the water? Then SailWise is looking for you!

Our sailing equipment

Besides our adapted catamaran Beatrix - used for sailing holidays - It Sailhûs has the luxury motorboat 'Wilgen' and, from spring '22, the unique Inclusion catamaran 'Trude', both wheelchair accessible. Both vessels have a length of 6 to 8 metres. Both Wilgen and Trude can be booked with skipper for short and day trips, both weekdays and weekends by people with disabilities.

We are looking for committed volunteers for the role of skipper who:

• be delighted by a beautiful cruise on the Frisian lakes;
• want to take boating trips (from several hours to a day) with our motorboat Willows and/or catamaran Trude;
• Have sailing and/or powerboat experience (a boating licence is not required);
• want to give others an unforgettable day;
• Involve guests in sailing/boating activities on the ship;
• ensuring well-maintained and tidy ships.
