Looking for a fishing buddy

Oorizon is looking for a fishing companion (preferably male) for a client at the day centre who would like to go fishing together once a week at the Potmarge.

A fishing licence is provided for the client; if you wish to join in the fishing yourself, you will need your own fishing licence. The cost of this will be reimbursed.

If you actually enjoy going fishing with someone and offering support when needed, then this is the thing for you.

The client is deaf, but by speaking calmly and looking the client straight in the eye, they are able to communicate and follow everything more easily.

First, there will be an introductory meeting with Mr and his support staff, and based on that we will assess whether there is a suitable match.

You’ll be invited to take part in activities at Oorizon; at Christmas you’ll receive a Christmas hamper; a thank-you evening is organised once a year; and you may be able to take part in sign language lessons.

Oorizon can provide you with information about sign language and Deaf culture.

It is important to take the client into account when communicating by speaking calmly, articulating clearly and making eye contact with the client.

Keeping appointments and arriving on time are a priority for the client

In addition, staff are asked to provide support at the client’s own pace.
