Volunteer needed for the mobile library (stand-in) at Abbingahiem
Do you love books and a friendly chat? Then we’re looking for you!

We are looking for a volunteer for the Abbingahiem residential care home who would be willing to help out from time to time with delivering the library trolley.

What will you do?
On Monday morning, you’ll collect the library trolley and the book list. You’ll then gather the books together and visit the various departments at Abbingahiem.

Residents can hand in the books they’ve read and choose a new one. There’s often time for a friendly chat as well. Many residents look forward to this time of the week!

When you’ve finished, put the books back on the shelf and return the trolley and the list.

Good to know
Abbingahiem has its own collection of books. In addition, the collection is regularly updated and books are exchanged with the library in Leeuwarden, so that there is always something new for the residents to discover.

This voluntary role can easily be combined with other voluntary activities at Abbingahiem. We’d be happy to discuss with you what best suits your interests, talents and availability. This could include, for example, going for walks with residents, having a cup of coffee together, playing a game or helping out with activities.

Where possible, we match volunteers with residents who share similar interests. This often leads to wonderful connections that are valuable to both residents and volunteers.
