Art school volunteer
Description
Our loyal volunteer group could use expansion. Do you enjoy connecting with the Art Academy and its team? You will help with hands-on activities in the building and in studios.
What are you doing?
You will help with daily routine tasks, such as refilling coffee machines and milk in the canteen, welcoming participants at open days and exhibition openings. Also help with cleaning as part of that routine . There is a school cleaner twice a week, but everyone, including permanent staff (administration and management) together with volunteers empty wastebaskets and paper bins and clean the toilets. By doing routine work, you know how to find everything and move easily in all areas of the building.
Special occasions
The planning for open days, opening exhibition graduates and specific activities at the Art Academy (junior art academy) likes to make use of volunteers. These activities are planned and you are asked in advance if you can assist. This work is in addition to the weekly routine.
And more.....
Once you know the routine, are used to the environment and feel at home in the building, you can start doing other tasks, such as checkout with pin machine for participants who want to come and collect drawing and painting materials from the shop. Or would you like to assist the children and youth teachers with classes? Or are you someone who is handy with the computer in addition to the routine? Or do you like organising books in the little library? Are you handy with technology? There is always a task to suit you!
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
It is most convenient that you live in Leeuwarden or immediately around it. This is due to travel costs. We reimburse travel costs by public transport or € 0.19 per km. Our budget does not exceed 25 km.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
You will spend an average of one half-day each week on this. The routine work takes about 1.5/2 hours per week. Besides routine work, there are specific jobs that cannot be planned such as unpacking orders.
When you're used to it we'll look at what suits you then you'll start working with your own chore/checklist. For example
check the warehouse of artists' materials to see if it is orderly and if anything needs to be reordered, or perhaps you will check the little library on a weekly basis. For specific extra work, which is planned, you will be asked if you can be present. Sometimes this is during the week, on weekends or during summer holidays (sculpture week, painting weeks, youth week and the like). Every month there is a joint volunteer meeting
