Volunteer at the Social Food Garden - enjoy working outdoors while doing something for someone else

Do you enjoy being outdoors and would you like to do something for someone else? Then become a volunteer at the Social Food Gardens Leeuwarden! We grow unsprayed vegetables for people on a minimum income. In our gardens on Schieringerweg and Egelantiersstraat, guided by the gardener, we work with a group of enthusiastic volunteers on a healthy and social city. As a volunteer, you help with all kinds of work in the garden, such as sowing, planting, weeding, harvesting or watering. There are also practical jobs such as making compost bins, repairs, and small construction or carpentry jobs. You work on a fixed day a week, but it's all flexible - join in at your pace and according to what you can do. Guidance is available on set days and we provide coffee, tea and something sweet. You will also learn how to grow your own vegetables and you can take them home afterwards.

Supervisor of children's activities

From Solidair Friesland, we provide various activities for the residents of Ukrainian emergency shelter locations. Within the municipality of Leeuwarden, there are four emergency shelter locations, where there is still a lot of new inflow. We offer activities for these people, including children's activities. We offer the activities to provide a safe place on life in the emergency shelters. We naturally want to be able to offer the children this as often as possible, which is why we are looking for more volunteers! Tasks: Picking up and recruiting the target group Keeping an overview during the activity Supervising during the activity Preparing the activity Writing reports and having a signalling role in this The activities can range from crafts, sports, games or, for example, supervising a play corner. Here, we look closely at what the children's needs are. We also look at the talents and skills of our volunteers!

The aim of the Leeuwarden World Shop Foundation (hereinafter referred to as 'the Foundation') is to contribute to improving the living conditions of its products through the sale of fair trade products. Through this objective, the foundation aims to promote activities that stimulate changes in world trade structures and thus achieve a just world society. The foundation does not aim to make a profit. The foundation seeks to achieve this objective through a world shop selling Fair Trade products and providing information on Fair Trade, development cooperation and world trade structures. The foundation has a board consisting of at least three members, including at least a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer. Board members are appointed by the board. Board members are appointed for a 3-year term, after which they are immediately eligible for reappointment. An average of 25 volunteers are associated with the foundation for maintaining the shop.

Help refugee children through play and exercise

"What I remember most are those incredibly happy faces. That they seek interaction with you, that they can let out their energy and be children for a while. It's so nice that you can be there for those children, even if it's just a few hours a week. I go home after TeamUp feeling fulfilled!". ✨What will you do? As a volunteer for TeamUp (a programme of Save the Children, UNICEF Netherlands and War Child), you offer psychosocial support to refugee children through play and exercise. While playing, children learn to deal with emotions such as anger, fear and stress. You will be trained and coached beforehand and will work at a reception location in your neighbourhood. You will be part of an enthusiastic team with other volunteers. At a set time during the week, you and your team will supervise activities for children aged 6 to 18. These activities have a theme and purpose. The activities make children feel safe and protected, more connected to their peers and more optimistic. In addition, you have a signalling role. You will learn how to recognise worrying behaviour and, if necessary, refer children to specialised care and guidance.

We are looking for someone to carry out small energy-saving measures, as directed by our energy coach. These measures include fitting radiator foil, water-saving shower head, draught strips,, etc. This work comes on demand, after all, if there is demand, the energy coach will visit to see what work and measures are desirable and necessary.
