Humaantjes buddy project

Het maatjesproject “Humaantjes” is er voor oudere mensen en voor mensen met een lichamelijke of licht verstandelijke beperking. Behoefte aan contact en behoefte aan een steuntje in de rug bij meedoen in de gemeenschap staat voorop. 

A buddy is someone who listens carefully and takes the time for a conversation. Together with the participant, activities can be undertaken, because together you dare more than alone! In every contact, we look at what the participant wants and what is possible. Where possible, we also bring participants into contact with each other, e.g. via the community and village rooms. This is based on as much equality and reciprocity as possible; a buddy is not a social worker, but rather someone who stands next to the participant. The idea is that a buddy makes himself superfluous after a while when the participant feels better embedded in his own environment. We realise that this is not feasible for everyone.

There can be all kinds of reasons for someone to want a buddy. A buddy to do things with, a buddy as a listening ear, a buddy who just comes to visit. A buddy who, if possible, helps to expand the participant's network. Taking those steps together that someone would not take alone, for whatever reason.

Contact
A person can apply for a buddy themselves or a concerned person or institution can do so for them.
