Talk: From wet feet to bone-dry summers!
A talk by Jacob Kuiper. He takes you on a journey from the storm surges of the past – such as the catastrophic flood of 1825, which left a large part of Friesland under water – to today’s heatwave and wildfire records. With striking images, relatable examples and plenty of time for questions, he’ll show how extreme weather develops and what this tells us about the changing climate. Don’t expect a dry lecture, but a captivating journey through the weather, full of insights and discussion.
Particulars:
Jacob Kuiper werkte bijna 43 jaar als luchtvaartmeteoroloog bij het KNMI en volgde het weer van dag tot dag. Daarnaast schreef hij boeken en artikelen over weer, klimaat en sterrenkunde, en gaf hij talloze lezingen in het hele land. Zijn brede ervaring en diepe kennis van weerextremen maken hem een bevlogen en deskundige verteller.
