Who are we looking for
We are looking to strengthen the board with a board member for fundraising and communications in
the broadest sense of the word. Consider tapping funds, donations, legacies, membership recruitment,
relationship management, but also strengthening the visibility of the Wissel. It is therefore important that
you have experience in this, so you can help the Wissel come up with a strategy and implement it
operationalise.
It would be nice if you already have a network in the Leeuwarden and Friesland region. Experience as
board member is not necessary.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Our organisation
Foundation Animal Shelter and Animal Ambulance de Wissel provides shelter to hundreds of strays and pets relinquished by their owners every year for a variety of reasons.
We are a not-for-profit organisation and depend for our finances on
municipal contributions, donors, sponsors, collections, funds and legacies.
At the Wissel, we work with a professional team of eight staff, supported by
about 130 volunteers. We also employ a number of trainees every year.
The Wissel board's duties include: strategic planning, the objectives performance
monitor, develop an organisational vision, supervise business operations and may or may not
together with the business manager, represent the Wissel in consultations and meetings. In the
board are various expertises represented to advise the business leader on the various
sub-areas.
Animal Shelter and Animal Ambulance the Wissel is an ANBI foundation. Board members do not receive any
remuneration for their board duties. However, any expenses and travel costs may be reimbursed.
The board currently consists of five members. We meet once a month.
