Project partner (volunteer)
Help build a place where curiosity matters more than being right.
The Droom Café is a community initiative where people from diverse backgrounds come together to engage in conversation with one another in an open, respectful and equal manner. Not to persuade one another, but to explore together how different perspectives can contribute to a deeper understanding of ourselves, one another and reality.
The central question that runs like a common thread through the project is:
"How can people search for meaning together without imposing that meaning on one another?"
To further shape this vision, I am looking for a project partner who not only wants to contribute ideas, but also wants to work with me to further develop Het Droom Café.
What will you do?
As a project partner, you will share responsibility for the project’s further development. You will play an active role in shaping the direction of Het Droom Café and help to organise and facilitate meetings.
Your duties may include, amongst other things:
- contributing ideas on the development of the project’s content;
- preparing and organising meetings;
- facilitating or supporting discussions during meetings;
- maintaining contact with partners;
- contribute to the project’s communication and visibility;
- contributing ideas on funding, grants and future developments;
- identifying areas for improvement and new opportunities.
We’ll work out the exact details of the role together, allowing scope for your skills and interests.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
What do you get in return?
As a project partner, you will have the opportunity to help build, right from the start, a social initiative focused on bringing people together, fostering dialogue and promoting personal development.
You’ll be given the opportunity to contribute your own ideas, develop new skills and work with others to create a space where people feel heard and challenged to broaden their perspectives.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
Who am I looking for?
I’m looking for someone who identifies with the principles of Het Droom Café and believes it’s important for people to genuinely try to understand one another.
You don’t need to be a specialist or a care worker. What I think is more important is that you:
- is open to different outlooks on life;
- are a good listener;
- treats differences of opinion with respect;
- are curious about how people think;
- can work together as equals;
- are reliable and honour your commitments;
- are prepared to take a critical look at yourself as well.
Experience in organising events, volunteering or community projects is welcome, but not essential.
Practical information
This is primarily a voluntary role.
We will agree on the time commitment by mutual consultation.
The meetings take place in Leeuwarden.
