Humanitas is looking for family buddies!

Do you really want to mean something to someone else? Do you have a few hours spare once a week or once every fortnight to support a parent with a listening ear and a helping hand?

Imagine: you go along to the playground with Leyla, who finds it exciting to go out alone with her four young children. Or you help Elise, who just moved to Leeuwarden, discover the nicest places for her and her children. Maybe you will visit Tamara, who is expecting her first child, and think with her about the arrival of her baby.

With your time, attention and (parenting) experience, you can really make a difference.

We are looking for committed volunteers who want to stand next to a parent - without judgement, with genuine attention and in equal contact. You do not have to be a professional; your life experience is more than enough.

Every parent has a time when things just don't go their way. Just then, a little support makes a world of difference.

At Home-Start Leeuwarden, you support families with parenting questions, sometimes alongside professional assistance. You indicate what you want to do, and we provide a match that suits you. You are not alone during the process: you receive guidance and support from Humanitas.

Of course, we understand that, as a volunteer, you may also have holidays or be ill on occasion. Together, we look at what is feasible for you and make sure you are well coordinated.

Humanitas Leeuwarden is there for people who temporarily cannot manage on their own. From a warm, human approach, we connect people with each other - without distinction of origin, religion or culture. Volunteering with Humanitas is not only valuable for another person, but also enriching for yourself.
