Reading aloud volunteers at families' homes

Reading aloud volunteers at families' homes

Description

At dbieb and Humanitas, we spread the joy of reading. Recently, we started the national programme the VoorleesExpress. With the VoorleesExpress, volunteers each week visit a family with young children (2-12 years old) who could use extra language support. By reading together, talking and playing with language, children and their parents are stimulated in language development and parents are given tools to give language a permanent place at home. To this end, we are looking for several volunteers.

What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?

What are we looking for?
You love language and enjoy helping children discover how words work through play. You have an eye for what interests children and know how to respond creatively. At the same time, you can introduce parents to the fun of language and find ways for them to actively contribute. You feel at home with digital tools, such as a tablet or online library materials. You divide your time flexibly: 1 to 2 hours per week, in consultation with the family. A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required, but will be reimbursed by us.
