Wanted: Buddies for ex-prisoners.

Helping ex-prisoners on their reentry in the Province of Friesland in 2-3 hours a week: would you like to become their buddy?

As a volunteer, you will support the ex-prisoner in both practical matters and offer a listening ear to make reintegration as smooth as possible. You do this from the MEF project (Buddies Ex-prisoners Friesland), set up by Solidair Friesland.

Specifically, what will you do?

• Supporting ex-prisoners in areas such as administration, finances, loneliness & building social network, looking for work, discovering new hobbies, etc;
• Offering a listening ear;
• Assist in discussions with agencies such as VNN, Probation, Municipality etc.
• Undertaking social activities such as sports.

Is this you?

You have a social heart and stand firmly on your feet and can therefore also guard your boundaries well. Naturally, you are empathetic and have good communication skills. Finally, you are able to adapt easily to changing circumstances, for example, being able to switch quickly if the appointment is rescheduled last minute.

Furthermore, we ask:

• Preferably experience working with clients with mild intellectual disabilities;
• 2 to 3 hours per week availability;
• Car and driving licence.
