How Well Arranged is it at your organisation?
Volunteers are indispensable. Those who selflessly dedicate themselves for another person therefore deserve that the organisation handles that dedication well. How does that work for your organisation? Are volunteers valued in the workplace, is it a safe place to work, do you know how to engage volunteers well, are volunteer positions easy to fill etc.?
Are you curious to know where you stand and want to work on areas for improvement? You don't have to do this alone! We are happy to think along with you during a 'Goed Geregeld' project!

Who we are
The photo above shows Wout, Reineke, Marischa and Laura. Wout and Laura are Community Development Workers and Reineke and Marischa are Advisors on Voluntary Deployment. For Goed Geregeld we combine our expertise. We know the city, neighbourhoods and villages, speak to residents, volunteers and organisations on a daily basis and know what is going on. With our knowledge of voluntary commitment and local connection, we help organisations move forward, from volunteer policy to practice. Together, we strengthen volunteer work in Leeuwarden and help your organisation with a solid volunteer policy on paper and/or in practice.
The well-regulated route
With the Goed Geregeld trajectory, you work step by step on a strong volunteer policy. This can lead to the NOV quality mark or a tailor-made improvement programme. This is what the process looks like:
Step 1: Self-assessment by the organisation
The organisation (volunteer coordinator(s), management and/or board) answers questions on issues such as tasks, safety and appreciation of volunteers. This can be done independently via a questionnaire or with our guidance.
Step 2: Evaluation by volunteers
Volunteers complete the same questions during a social, creative meeting and/or online. This step can also be done independently or with our help.
Step 3: Compare and analyse
The results of both evaluations are juxtaposed. This reveals opportunities and areas for improvement. This forms the basis for a stronger volunteer policy or the hallmark process.
Step 4: Working on action points
A working group with at least volunteers, and possibly coordinators, board or management, will work on the action points. We provide support where necessary. The organisation itself decides which points have priority - tailor-made, in other words!
Step 5: Choose your direction: Hallmark or only improvement path?
After step 4, you decide whether to go for the NOV seal of approval goes or opts for a improvement trajectory without label.
Step 5A: The NOV seal of approval
After completing the areas for improvement, we speak with volunteers (and paid staff, if applicable). We report our findings to NOV. With a positive assessment, you receive the seal of approval - valid for four years. Congratulations!
Step 5B: Improvement process only
Not going for the seal of approval? Congratulations, you now have a good standing volunteer policy!
What you might still be wondering!
Perhaps your question is below. In any case, we would be happy to tell you more in a telephone conversation! Leave your details at the bottom of this page and we will call you as soon as possible.
What costs are involved?
If you only go for the improvement process, our commitment is free. When you go for the NOV seal of approval too, our commitment is free. Only you pay for the NOV assessment. For organisations with less than 100 volunteers and 2fte of professionals, this is €250. For organisations above 100 volunteers or 2fte it is €450,-.
What are the conditions to participate?
Among other things, it is important that your organisation consists of at least 10 volunteers and that you, as an organisation, take the time to engage in this process so that agreements are kept.
How much time does it take?
This is different for each organisation. It depends on large organisation, action points and certain duration of the trajectory. Depending on what is feasible for you and us, how long the trajectory will take and how the time will be allocated will be determined.
When is Well Settled not suitable?
When the question affects only a small part of the volunteer policy, or is not directly related to it, a full pathway is not necessary. For example, consider questions such as:
How do I start my own initiative?
With these kinds of questions, we are of course also happy to help you - in a way that suits your situation.
What are appropriate ways to value volunteers within my organisation?
How do I write a good volunteer vacancy?
Do you have an example of a volunteer policy?
What does it deliver?
- Volunteers feel seen, valued and taken seriously. This enhances motivation and commitment.
- Tasks, responsibilities and expectations are clear. This prevents abuses and increases hot work pleasure for both volunteer and volunteer coordinator.
- With a good policy, you radiate reliability as an organisation. That makes it easier to attract new volunteers and cooperation partners.
- Good guidance, appreciation and support ensure that volunteers stay active for longer.
- It promotes internal cooperation. When policies are clear, coordinators, board and colleagues know how to work better with volunteers.
- A good policy includes guidelines on safety and behaviour. This contributes to a safe working environment for everyone.
- When you also go for the hallmark, you have proof of good policy towards potential volunteers and future cooperation partners.
Are the four of you doing the track?
No per organisation see who will pick it up. This can be a duo, but also someone alone.
