During the meeting, two questions were asked and discussed in groups. Then some answers were shared with everyone, these are briefly mentioned below.

First question: how do you introduce a new volunteer?
-Rooms with Opportunities: First a conversation, what does a volunteer want? Do you also have a start-up meeting with volunteers if you have a larger organisation? Seems important but you don't want to overcharge volunteers either. Afke from Rooms with Opportunities did a master's degree in volunteer engagement.
-Refugee work: boarding programme, first talk with team leaders, two-day training and a whole package of information , fortnightly peer review, discuss with team leader.
- Humanitas: They are a national organisation and offer online training for volunteers (values Humanitas among others), also training for different topics volunteers can join. Guidance is done by coordinator.
- Aldlân neighbourhood organisation: neighbourhood association 75 volunteers, from intensive to occasional commitment, at new volunteers “round up”. Matching interests. Volunteers who find art interesting, for example, may set up an activity in that direction if they wish.

Second question: as an organisation, how do you ensure that volunteers are valued?
-Bicycle Association: Organising drinks twice a year, with young people it's a lot harder, they often don't show up
-Food bank: 2x yearly meeting, BBQ and New Year meeting in the Bres, Christmas package, 5/10/15 years of service get a pin with a fork on it, bronze/silver/gold.
-Frisius MC: appreciated by patients, as team leaders organise an outing, sometimes coffee mornings bi-monthly there is a look behind the scenes e.g. at the mortuary or the CT scan, small gifts with Saint Nicholas and Christmas gift, personal attention.
- JGM Serious Experience: going out with young people to build rapport, survey to find out what volunteers like, find out what is going on, money/time/appreciation e.g. a Christmas package.
- Visit&Co: a card with birthday and in case of illness, chocolate letter, Christmas, twice a year info meeting, high tea with volunteers.
