Gerard Dou Huizum West Neighbourhood and Playground Association

Information about this organisation

On 10 April 1933, our association was founded as the Gerard Dou playground association. In 1985, this association merged with the then neighbourhood association Huizum to become Wijk- en Speeltuinvereniging Gerard Dou / Huizum-West. The neighbourhood building - former bathhouse in van Ostadestraat - was closed and a new neighbourhood accommodation was realised in the playground in 1985. Therefore, the then playground building was demolished then. The 'Gerard Dou' has been a household name in Huizum-West for years. Alongside the two other neighbourhood associations in Huizum-West, we provide a wide range of services, activities and clubs. There is always something for everyone. And then there is our neighbourhood newspaper, which is distributed 3 times a year free door-to-door in our 'catchment area'. Below are the catchment areas of the three neighbourhood and playground associations active in Huizum-West. Three associations which, by the way, get along very well. We work well together in a number of areas. In addition to the three neighbourhood associations, there is also the Neighbourhood Panel Huizum-West. This organisation is a foundation and, in its organisational form, is completely separate from the three neighbourhood and playground associations in the district.
