Social media

Social media have now become indispensable for civil society organisations in the
communication with their target audience. Because communicating via social media is very
low-threshold and fast, you can share information and knowledge, you reach new people, you
Messages can be easily forwarded, you get more exposure and become
easily found on the internet.

  • Inspire your followers
Use original ideas or catchy quotes to inspire your readers.
  • Work with fixed headings
Recognisability is good, you can achieve this by using a fixed structure for content on your social media. Post regularly, use a recognisable colour/image that recurs.
  • Make use of experience stories
Recruiting new volunteers? Have your current volunteers tell you a bit about their volunteering and why they enjoy it so much.
  • Showcase your organisation
Have you had a fun meeting, tell about it. Or take your followers for a behind-the-scenes look at your organisation.
  • Respond to current events
Is it summer, Christmas, autumn or any other special day? Include this in your post on social media.
