Cooperating board member
Description
Stichting Stadskantine West is a 25-strong volunteer organisation. Since 2015, we have been cooking a restaurant-worthy three-course meal for guests from the neighbourhood every month, with the main aim of connecting people through eating together. We now do this at four locations in the city. In this, we collaborate with the neighbourhood teams of Amaryllis. Besides the monthly City Canteen, we occasionally organise pop-up activities in collaboration with various organisations (check out our FB page).
The successful initiative is low-threshold and demonstrably brings local residents out of their isolation. For our colourful City Canteen family (the volunteers) too, the City Canteen is an important part of their lives.
Due to our rapid growth to four locations, we are urgently looking for one or more enthusiastic (experienced) cooperative board members who enjoy contributing to our success story. As a board member, you are 'at home' in Leeuwarden, and have an affinity with our activities. Together with the other board members, you will build a healthy, future-proof organisation with a focus on volunteers and guests.
Cooperating board member, what specifically do we expect from you? Of course regular board meetings, where you keep your finger on the pulse of the current state of affairs, and have an eye for the future opportunities and challenges of the Town Canteen. You coordinate, steer, liaise with various partners (including Amaryllis) and volunteers and are an important face of the Stadskantine to the outside world. Moreover, you also enjoy being actively involved and rolling up your sleeves during restaurant evenings.
Do you want to contribute something substantial to the city of Leeuwarden by not only talking but also doing? Then get in touch to get acquainted. And/or come for a meal once to experience what the City Canteen means to a lot of people.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
A dynamic environment where you come into contact with all kinds of people and organisations. We are hospitable and enthusiastic, a colourful and warm City Canteen family with a heart for each other and for our guests.
The opportunity to participate means that, as a board member, you are close to the group of volunteers and the guests. There is plenty of room for your own wishes and ideas. We offer the opportunity for (further) training, e.g. in social hygiene or catering.
As a board member, you contribute something essential to the city of Leeuwarden, and to the lives of a large group of people (volunteers and guests).
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
You have affinity with the activities of The City Canteen, have (some) administrative experience, are communicatively strong and have a flexible and open attitude, given the diversity of volunteers and visitors to The City Canteen. After an introductory period, you are willing to commit yourself to the City Canteen family for some time.
