Coordinator for LGBTQ+ youth group Sneek - COC Friesland

Description

COC Friesland is looking for a coordinator for a new meeting place for LGBTQ+ youth in Sneek!

The coordinator of this group in Sneek, will be the first point of contact for the facilitators and will also be involved in organising activities himself. This new group will serve as a meeting place for all LGBTQ+ people aged 12 to 26 in and around Sneek. This group will be a combination of Jong&Out and Expreszo. In this, Jong&Out is a meeting place where LGBTQ+ young people up to 18 years old have a safe place to meet. Previously, a Jong&Out Sneek meeting was organised every second Sunday of month, but with the combination of an Expreszo group (aged 18-26), a new fixed time for this will be sought. This will be done in consultation with the supervisors and the target group. Activities might include games, crafts, watching a film, but most of all, we chat a lot and make new friends. In this way, you and the other volunteers ensure that the young people can be completely themselves and get to know other LGBTQ+ young people.
What will you do?
  • You coordinate the volunteer team of supervisors. In doing so, you lean and support the regional coordinator, who has a similar task in Leeuwarden;
  • You will organise activities with other supervisors, such as watching a film together, theme afternoons, or visiting an event such as the Leeuwarder pride together;
  • Creating a safe environment during activities;
  • Answering any questions (from the target group itself) or questions of a substantive nature (and where this is not possible: referral to other organisations);
  • Answering questions from supervisors or family members of participants;
  • You are the first point of contact for the board and attend coordinators' meetings and general membership meetings;
  • You provide an annual plan with an accompanying budget (you don't need to request the finances yourself, we already do this for you!);
  • Keeping the board informed about the goings-on within the group.
You...
  • Are someone who has an affinity with this target group;
  • Bursting with energy to put your creativity into organising the meetings;
  • Can prioritise well;
  • Are approachable and use clear and simple language;
  • Can provide structure within a group;
  • Maintains balance between safe proximity and guarding appropriate distance;
  • Have sense and time to commit 8 hours a month to this wonderful group;
  • Have the right to a VOG;
  • Have a lot of desire to get involved in a beautiful way for the LGBTQ+ community in Sneek and the surrounding area!
What do you get in return?
  • A huge network! As a coordinator, you have a lot of contact with people within the association;
  • A brilliant entry on your CV;
  • A membership at COC Friesland;
  • Volunteer outings at least twice a year;
  • Travel allowance;
  • And above all, an unforgettable time filled with great memories and new friends.
