Hostess or host
Description
In the good old days, supermarkets were small, cosy grocery stores where the cash register actually rang and groceries passed over the counter in paper cone bags. Such an authentic grocery shop still exists in the heart of Leeuwarden, housed in a seventeenth-century building.
From Tuesday to Sunday, the Grutterswinkel will come alive again, with hostesses/gentlemen walking around to welcome the many visitors. Visitors can have a look around the Grutterswinkel, buy products from the old days and enjoy a piece of orange cake and/or real Fryske Dúmkes.
For this museum with its busy coffee room, we are looking for hosts for at least two half-days a month.
The work includes catering duties and telling the story of Leeuwarden and of the Grutterswinkel to our visitors. The visitors are mainly tourists.
If this sounds like something for you, please do not hesitate to take a look at our museum and contact me.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
We offer a friendly working atmosphere and around 30 fellow volunteers. Space for own initiatives (in consultation with the board). Insurance via the municipality of Leeuwarden. A cosy Christmas gathering and a Christmas package.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
We require some hospitality/shopping experience. Good ability to handle money and PIN. Affinity with history, especially the history of Leeuwarden and our museum. Knowledge of Frisian, English and/or German or another language is welcome but not a hard requirement.
