Description
A client at Alliade has come up with a really fun idea to help people with mild intellectual disabilities ( LVB) connect with each other more and get them out of isolation.
Because sometimes you feel quite lonely and then it's nice that you can go somewhere where you can be sociable with others and build nice friendships.
Every 2nd Saturday afternoon of the month, she therefore organises an afternoon of activities for "People like you and me", i.e. for anyone with LVB.
And that could be anything: playing games, cooking or baking, doing crafts or going out together.
It is quite a lot of work to organise this alone, so she is looking for someone to support her in making invitations and an annual calendar, creating and maintaining an address file, developing ideas together, etc.
Per month, it only takes a few hours of your time and you would help her a lot!
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
After the first meeting, you will have another cup of coffee together and then, if there is a good click from both sides, a VOG will be applied for and a volunteer agreement will be drawn up.
You will then be insured during your voluntary work and will also receive a Christmas package and a small gift on Care Day, and on Volunteer Day. You will also receive the volunteer newsletter and, if applicable, you will be entitled to a travel allowance.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
We think a mutual click is important and that you are reliable and honour agreements made.
And above all, you must be fun and work well together.
