Description

The aim of the Leeuwarden World Shop Foundation (hereinafter referred to as 'the Foundation') is to contribute to improving the living conditions of its products through the sale of fair trade products. Through this objective, the foundation aims to promote activities that stimulate changes in world trade structures and thus achieve a just world society. The foundation does not aim to make a profit.

The foundation seeks to achieve this goal through a world shop selling Fair Trade products and providing information on fair trade, development cooperation and world trade structures.

The foundation has a board consisting of at least three members, including at least a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer. Board members are appointed by the board. Board members are appointed for a 3-year term, after which they are immediately eligible for reappointment. An average of 25 volunteers are associated with the foundation for maintaining the shop.

Board members - given their work, interests and experience - must be able to make a concrete contribution to achieving the foundation's goal.

Board members receive no remuneration for their work. However, expenses for performing relevant and necessary for their language are reimbursed.

Administrative

  • The secretary is 'the liaison' within the foundation's board and handles communication between board members and between the board and other volunteers.
  • Makes substantive contributions to policy-making based on the World Shop's direction, day-to-day business, conjuncture, financial development, cooperative relations, etc.
  • Actively seeks opportunities for (new) activities that fit the foundation's wants and needs.
  • Encourages and values volunteers and contributes to the promotion of expertise of board members and other volunteers.

Operational

  • In consultation with the chairman, prepare board meetings and ensure timely dispatch of board meeting invitations and agendas.
  • Taking minutes of board and other meetings of or by the foundation.
  • Contributing to and being (partly) responsible for preparing annual reports of the foundation.
  • Direct written and digital communication within the board and to and from volunteers.
  • Ensuring a sustainable and accessible archive of the Foundation's written and digitally recorded documents and activities. Hereby monitoring all legal regulations regarding, among other things, the retention period of documents and privacy (AVG).
  • Managing the stock of stationery, printed materials and other resources necessary for the daily operation of the World Shop.
