Social worker for status holders

Are you looking for meaningful volunteer work? Amaryllis is looking for committed volunteers who want to get involved in the social guidance of status holders in the municipality of Leeuwarden. As a volunteer, you will support newcomers in building their lives in the Netherlands.  

What will you do? 
You can focus on one specific role or opt for an all-round position combining several tasks: 

• You go out to show him or her around the neighbourhood and the city. Think about getting to know neighbours or the neighbourhood centre. Together, you also discover neighbourhood initiatives and activities or meeting places. You help them find their way in society step by step and join existing initiatives. 
• You will support in practical matters such as key transfer, furnishing the home, explaining amenities and helping to set up and organise administration.  
• Help with language and cultural questions in everyday life. 
• You will provide or support group meetings on topics such as care, housing, participation, social network, parenting and education.

In short, there is plenty to do! We are happy to look with you at what suits you best.

• You can take (online) courses and training, for example on cultural differences, setting boundaries and communication. 
• A daily point of contact for questions or coaching.

• You are enthusiastic and enjoy assisting status holders. 
• You don't experience a barrier if language is still sometimes a challenge. 
• You work towards the self-reliance of the status holder.
• You are willing to apply for a VOG (this will be reimbursed).
• You are open to attending training courses and workshops.

Since January 2026, Amaryllis has been responsible for the social support of status holders coming to live in the municipality of Leeuwarden. See here for more information.
