About COC Friesland
COC Friesland is committed to a society where everyone can be themselves, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or sexual characteristics. We provide information, organise meetings and activities, and represent the interests of the rainbow community throughout Friesland. As a regional branch of the national COC, we build visibility, acceptance and safety together with volunteers and partners.
The function
As a communications volunteer, you will work together with the social media team and the office manager on the visibility of COC Friesland. You will help keep our message clear, attractive and up-to-date, both online and offline. With your creativity and sense of communication, you will contribute to more connection and recognition for the rainbow community.
What will you do?
- Writing, editing and/or coordinating posts for our social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn).
- Contribute to the newsletter and co-write press releases.
- Contributing ideas and helping with campaigns, events and public actions.
- Help monitor the communication style and corporate identity of COC Friesland.
- Work with colleagues to consider strategy around visibility and advocacy.
- Signal developments in society and media that are important to the rainbow community.
What do you bring?
- Affinity with communication and the rainbow community.
- Creativity and pleasure in writing or creating content.
- Empathy and an eye for inclusive and accessible language.
- Fancy working together in an enthusiastic and diverse team.
- Experience in social media, design or communications is welcome, but not a requirement - motivation is just as important to us.

Twice a year, we organise fun volunteer outings and as a volunteer, you automatically become a member of COC Friesland. This way, you become part of a committed network in which connection, visibility and equality are central.

What does COC Friesland ask of you as a volunteer?
We are looking for someone who has an affinity with the mission of COC Friesland and wants to commit to the rainbow community with enthusiasm. You have experience with communication, media and/or (online) campaigns and know how to write accessible and appealing texts that reach different target groups. In addition, you have insight into social issues and understand the importance of strong visibility and advocacy.
You are creative, show initiative and enjoy working with others, but can also work well independently. For this position, we ask for a commitment of about 4 hours per week, with occasional extra time around campaigns or events.
