Walking companion Grou and surroundings
Description
Weekly on Thursday mornings 10:30am, the walking group "Walk your FIT!" starts in Grou and the surrounding area. The walking group was started by Amaryllis in collaboration with residents. Social workers are currently walking along. We want to transfer this to a volunteer. We are looking for someone to ensure that this walking group remains an ongoing activity that participants enjoy going to. Is this something for you?
The walking group is for anyone who wants to get more exercise, socialise and get a healthy start to the day. Some participants receive support from Amaryllis' Village Team South. The route is different every week and starts from different places. This can be in Grou, but in consultation with the participants it can also be in Mantgum, Wergea, Jirnsum, Wurdum etc. After the walk of about 45 minutes, there is an opportunity to have a drink together at the Amaryllis office in Grou.
The duties of the volunteer are:
- In consultation with the participants, determine the walking route.
- New participants received.
- Manage group app to invite and remind participants for weekly walk.
- Engage with residents and encourage conversations where appropriate.
What does the organisation offer the volunteer?
Volunteering where you can mean something to another person and at the same time enjoy being active and outdoors yourself. Amaryllis' Village Team provides a good familiarisation period and remains available for questions.
What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?
We are looking for someone who can work independently, is sociable and has strong (walking) feet.
