Buddy volunteers kids, adolescents and young adults (8 to 33 years)

Buddy volunteers kids, adolescents and young adults (8 to 33 years)

Description

Would you like to do something for children, adolescents and/or young adults (aged 8 to 33) who need a helping hand? And would you like to undertake fun activities together with a participant, where you have fun together? Who knows, maybe we are looking for you!

What will you do? As a Buddy volunteer, you support a participant who is mentally and/or socially vulnerable for a year. You meet up and go out together. You undertake fun activities, but also support the participant with a personal challenge.
Think of having trouble going out the door alone or having a chat with an unfamiliar person. Thus, with your support, the participant works step by step towards their own goal.

What does the organisation offer the volunteer?

What do we offer? We offer you:

  • You can count on relevant training, including training on your role as a buddy and peer review;
  • Good guidance. A professional coordinator is always available on weekdays to fall back on in case of questions or difficulties;
  • You will receive travel expenses reimbursement of €0.23 to/from the participant and there is also an activity budget of 30 p.m. available;
  • You get a volunteer contract including accident and liability insurance;
  • When making a match, your preferences and concerns are taken into account;
  • You can use your voluntary work for personal development and/or rejoining society.

What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?

What do we ask of you? We are looking for Buddy volunteers who:

  • You are empathetic, reliable, easy to liaise with and take the initiative in this;
  • You are supportive and do not fulfil a caregiver role towards the participant;
  • You are motivated to meet with the participant and the target group of the Buddy Project appeals to you;
  • A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). This can be requested free of charge;
  • You are 16 years or older and can meet with the participant at least once every fortnight.

We ask you to apply for a VOG for your volunteer work. The cost of this will be reimbursed. Do you not qualify for a VOG? Then we will still discuss the possibilities with you.
