  • More confident: By sharing your story and inspiring others.
  • New knowledge and skills: through training and exchange with other volunteers.
  • A valuable network: You will meet people from across the province who are committed to inclusion.

What does COC Friesland offer you as a volunteer?
As a volunteer information officer, you will join an enthusiastic and diverse group of colleagues, who together ensure a warm and inspiring atmosphere. You will receive guidance from experienced public information officers and can make use of internal and national training courses to further develop your communication and didactic skills. Although the work is voluntary, you will receive compensation for your travel and expenses. Moreover, COC Friesland offers you the opportunity to get to know more people from the Frisian LHBTIQA+ community, for instance by giving information sessions, social Friday afternoon drinks and group meetings.

What does the organisation ask of the volunteer?

What does COC Friesland ask of you as a volunteer?
We are looking for someone who is themselves part of the LGBTQA+ community or can empathise with it. It is important that you are happy with your own gender and/or sexual orientation and can talk openly about it. You enjoy giving presentations and engaging with groups; a background in education or pedagogy is a plus. You will also be of great value if you bring something extra through your professional experience in, for example, healthcare or business.

Good communication skills are a must. As we are active in various locations in Friesland, you have a driving licence and car or are willing to travel by public transport. You are available at least one half-day a month on a weekday and also attend joint information meetings.
