Board member Funds

Everyone should be able to be themselves. That is what COC Friesland has been working for for decades. Whether it is about young people being educated at school, older people finding a safe meeting place or standing up for equal rights: together we build a mienskip in which LGBTQIA+ people can participate fully and visibly. That work requires not only passion and commitment, but also a solid financial basis. That is why we are looking for a General Board member with the funds portfolio: someone who will help find the resources with which the association can achieve its goals.What will you do?As Board member funds, you are the financial engine behind our projects and initiatives. You are involved in fundraising at, among others, the Oranjefonds, Blauwe Fonds, Bob Angelo Fonds and the Iepen Mienskipsfûns. You write and submit grant applications and ensure clear and careful justification. You work closely with the treasurer and the office manager to keep COC Friesland financially strong and future-proof. You think along with the board about the direction and development of the association. Who are we looking for? You feel connected to our mission and have a strong affinity with the LGBTQA+ community. You have fundraising experience or the drive to learn. You enjoy giving financial advice. You are conscientious and take transparency for granted. You are someone who gets energy from cooperation, but also takes initiative. Experience with project-based work is an advantage. Hostess or host

In the good old days, supermarkets were small, cosy grocery stores where the cash register actually rang and groceries passed over the counter in paper cone bags. In the heart of Leeuwarden, such an authentic grocery shop still exists, housed in a seventeenth-century building. From Tuesday to Sunday, the Grutterswinkel comes back to life, with hostesses/gentlemen walking around to welcome the many visitors. Visitors can take a look inside the Grutterswinkel, buy products from the past and enjoy a piece of orange cake and/or real Fryske Dúmkes. For this museum with its busy coffee room, we are looking for hostesses and gentlemen for at least two half-days a month. The work includes catering and telling the story of Leeuwarden and the Grutterswinkel to our visitors. The visitors are mainly tourists. The village of Bears was once home to a prominent family, the Unias. After their State was demolished, the grounds lay deserted for centuries. Only the Poarte still bears witness to this location's rich past. In 1990, an initiative was born to revive the state. Where the stone walls once stood, a steel replica, designed by artist Bep Mulder, now stands as a mirage of the past. The tower offers stunning views of the landscape. Anyone who enters the castle grounds through the original gateway feels like a visitor in another time.The Maria Church in Bears serves as a reception and documentation centre for visitors to Uniastate. We regularly organise events, exhibitions and performances. We are looking for volunteers who want to keep this beautiful location alive. In the church, you will welcome visitors as a hostess or host. The church, the entrance gate and the steel replica of Uniastate are open from April to September from Tuesday to Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Becoming a buddy at Buddy to Buddy Leeuwarden!

At Buddy to Buddy Leeuwarden, we are not looking for the average volunteer, but for someone who enjoys building contacts with other people, including newcomers from abroad. These are often people who have been living in the Netherlands for a while or recently. Buddy to Buddy matches these newcomers with fellow townspeople and villagers on the basis of equality and shared interests. We are looking for people who are open to getting to know other people's cultures, traditions, hobbies, etc. in an approachable way. During a four-month programme, you and your buddy will give a glimpse into each other's lives, doing various activities together. In addition, you and your buddy can also meet each other in our Sedrana living room, which is open every Wednesday and Thursday! The four months are concluded with a smashing closing party! Every last Wednesday of the month there is Buddycafé in our living room Sedrana at Schoolstraat 1 in Leeuwarden from 19.00 to 21.00 hours. Come along, everyone is welcome! More questions? Supervisor Cocktail COC Friesland (LGBT+ newcomers)

Do you live in Friesland and want to contribute to a warmer, more inclusive society? Are you social, open and do you have time and energy to make others feel welcome? Then join COC Friesland as a volunteer for the Cocktail project! What is Cocktail?Cocktail is a national initiative of the COC, especially for LGBTQA+ refugees and newcomers. For many people, it is not natural to be able to be openly themselves. Even in the Netherlands, newcomers sometimes feel lonely or unsafe. Cocktail offers meetings where people feel seen, heard and supported. What will you do as a volunteer? You participate in the team that organises and supervises the monthly meetings. Your contribution may include: Welcoming visitors hospitably and ensuring a safe, warm atmosphere; Thinking along about the content of the programme (such as talks, workshops or creative activities); Supporting the implementation (e.g. preparing the room, arranging food and drinks); Keeping in touch with participants or organisations involved. What we ask of you:You do not need to be an expert by experience. What is more important is that you are open and respectful towards people. We are looking for volunteers who: Social, empathetic and listening skills; Have affinity with LGBTQA+ and/or migration; Can be present at the meeting at least once a month (and if possible in preparation); Speak Dutch or English (multiple languages is a plus); Have a firm footing and be able to work with diverse backgrounds; Willing to apply for a VOG (arranged through us free of charge). Do you have an affinity for public work and are you looking for challenging volunteer work? We are looking for enthusiastic and service-oriented public employees for our leading model railway museum in Sneek. As a public employee, you will be deployed as an attendant. Your primary goal is to make visitors feel more than welcome. You act as the museum's calling card. As an attendant, you will: - receive and guide visitors in the museum, give guided tours - provide information to visitors in the museum - ensure that all trains continue to run on the tracks, take care of minor malfunctions - assist with museum activities and events, group visits, etc. - assist with simple catering activities at museum activities, sell items from our shop and display case - assist the museum attendant with his or her work in the absence of the desk clerk or during busy periods. In this job, you have direct and frequent contact with visitors. You are good at dealing with people. Managing hospitality well is important for our museum. The number of hours is negotiable, but you are available for at least part of the day (morning or afternoon) per week.
