NLdoet 2026
Every year, the Oranje Fonds organises NLdoet; the largest volunteer action in the Netherlands. On Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March, the doors were open again throughout the country to organisations, community gardens, clubs and initiatives that could use extra hands. In the municipality of Leeuwarden, too, there was plenty of participation. That is why we travelled through the municipality to visit various jobs and talk to participants.
At reception location Marene of Wender employees of De Friesland and Rabobank helped brighten up the gardens and balconies. They were warmly welcomed with coffee, tea and a filled cake. De Friesland employees shared enthusiastic stories: “You really see results,” and, “I go home feeling satisfied.” They said the soup during the break made it complete. Rabobank employees also rolled up their sleeves. Through their cooperative hours, they have been participating for years. For some, it was even their sixth participation in NLdoet. They found it fun, well organised and valuable.
Subsequently, at location Greunshiem from Alliade the smell of pancakes. Volunteers from De Friesland baked for the residents and created a cosy atmosphere. The morning ended with a cosy meal together at a laid table.
Also at LAC Frisia hard work was done. There, students from Firda, members of the CDA party, the LAC Frisia board, members of the youth committee and volunteers from Infoframe helped. Together, they prepared the sports complex for the new season. It was a group with many different people, which made for a cheerful and active atmosphere.
Several teams from Amaryllis were active during NLdoet. For example, the management team was in action at Doniastate petting zoo in Stiens. For the opening of the new season, there were all kinds of outdoor chores on the grounds. Social Village Team North went to work at Dekema State in Jelsum. Among other things, they went about refurbishing the outdoor area. Team Vrijwilligerswerk was also working on Friday to tidy up and clean the Heechterp-Schieringen community centre.
On Saturday, colleagues from this team were helping out at Rest point - Leeuwarder Forest outdoor centre. Together with regular volunteers, children and supervisors from scouting group De Esdoorn and members of the Junior Chamber (JCI Friesland), they set to work planting hundreds of new trees. In the forest, it became clear how much you can achieve when you work together.
From baking pancakes to renovating sports fields: everywhere there were people willing to do something for others. In short, it was another successful edition of NLdoet!
